A Derby-based IT firm has received more than 30 formal business enquiries, just a week after making its ultra-fast fibre optic broadband available to local businesses.
RDS Global, a thriving local IT company with its headquarters on Friar Gate, has been appointed the ‘City Champion’ for Derby on behalf of CityFibre – a privately owned venture capital business, which aims to future-proof the UK’s urban digital infrastructures with the widespread rollout of full fibre networks.
While the company’s Gigabyte Lines have already been made live in Nottingham and Leicester, Derby is set to be made live toward the end of 2020 – and as one of just two local companies responsible for selling the new broadband deals to businesses in Derby, RDS is excited about what the new technology could mean.
Andy Flinn, CEO at RDS Global, said: “This technology comes on the back of billions of pounds worth of investment from CityFibre and it has the potential to transform the way businesses in Derby work.
“Speeds of a Gigabyte will deliver a level of connectivity that has been unobtainable until now – and the fact that it promises to increase the efficiency, the effectiveness and the wellbeing of the local business community fits very well with what we try to do for our clients every day.”
In addition to being much faster than the traditional lease lines of established providers, City Fibre’s Gigabyte Broadband is also likely to prove more affordable, enabling Derby businesses to make better use of their money as well as their time.
Founded in 1997 as a means of providing tailored network services for business users, RDS Global quickly expanded to include IT support, cloud, hardware and consultancy solutions before expanding into new market sectors and investing in a broader range of products.
Today, it is based on Derby’s Friar Gate and provides bespoke IT support for 4,000 users in 200 locations across the UK.
