An award-winning Derby recruitment firm has adapted its business approach during the lockdown, and has landed two new clients as it responds to the rapidly changing jobs market.
The Strand-based Sky Recruitment Solutions has landed two contracts to help two fellow Marketing Derby Bondholders with their staffing predicaments during Covid19, whilst providing many others with free consultations to help businesses restructure, and increase the supply of temporary staff.
David Torrington, managing director at Sky Recruitment Solutions, said: “In the space of three months the country has gone from record employment to virtually the opposite.”
But while a widely reported 126% increase in unemployment since the start of April has seen a lot of companies reduce their commitment to recruitment and marketing, David has taken what he calls an “adventurous approach” to business.
He said: “There’s no doubt that manufacturing has been badly hit by the lockdown, but industries such as medical supplies have continued to thrive – and both the volume and the calibre of the labour pool available to us in servicing those clients has reached an extraordinary new level.”
Two Derby firms that have derived particular benefit from Sky’s dynamic approach to local recruitment include Pennine Healthcare and Hodgkinson Builders.
Pennine Healthcare, based in City Gate, is one of the UK’s leading privately owned manufacturers of single use, sterile medical devices and Luke Fryer, chief executive, picked Sky Recruitment Solutions specifically to help sustain his company’s ongoing expansion.
He said: “Our business is going through a period of unprecedented growth. We are developing our online presence to bring professional healthcare products direct to the consumer.
“We picked Sky Recruitment Solutions due to their knowledge of this sector and of the local market and, with two of their candidates now in place, we are delighted that we chose to put our faith in them.”
Having previously been disappointed with the candidates supplied by a national recruitment firm, Ian Hodgkinson, director at Pride Park based Hodgkinson Builders, also appointed Sky Recruitment Solutions after hearing a glowing report from a local business associate.
He said: “Sky Recruitment Solutions have listened to our needs and reacted to them brilliantly. They’ve been very efficient, very pleasant and very professional people to deal with and they’ve provided a number of first class candidates.
“We’ve now signed an exclusive 12-month agreement with them and I have no hesitation in saying that they are our recruitment agency of choice.”
Sky Recruitment Solutions, which was established in 2014 as a specialist provider of candidates for industrial roles at all levels, is committed to staying fast, flexible and dynamic, wherever the post-Covid labour market leads.
David added: “These are tough and uncertain times for a lot of candidates and a lot of employers but as an established business with an intimate understanding of the local markets, we remain committed to helping the city of Derby and the broader Derbyshire region in every way we can.”
