Manchester’s landmark Hotspur Press is poised for revitalisation after a new developer secured permission to redevelop the long-disused site.
The central Manchester mill is set to be converted into a 595-bedroom student accommodation complex, with a commitment to include affordable units making up ten percent of the total. It follows previous stalled plans at the site, which has fallen into disrepair after closing as a printing mill in 1996.
The building’s historic exterior and the distinctive ‘Percy Brothers’ sign will be preserved and integrated into the new structure. The development plans also feature a 37-storey tower, complete with commercial spaces and a 10,000 sq ft public square, which will be accessible to the local community for the first time.
