High-quality apartments are on the way to an area of Mansfield after part of a care home site was acquired.
Nottingham-based developer ALB Group has bought part of the grounds of the Barchester Forest Care Home, in Southwell Road West, Mansfield, where some of the boarded-up buildings will be converted into 22 top-spec flats.
It comes after the main care facility, which is still operating, underwent an upgrade in recent years. The residential aspect will add to the enhanced aesthetic of the modern care home nearby.
The site has been bought by ALB for an undisclosed sum, with help from appointed agent, Nottingham-based Christie and Co, and bosses at the firm say they can’t wait to progress with the project.
Arran Bailey, managing director of ALB, which is behind a number of high-profile developments across the Midlands, said: “We are delighted to have completed on the sale of this scheme.
“We bought the building as it was a great opportunity to bring life back into a vacant premises and to spruce up this part of Mansfield. This is the first care home we have transformed and we are raring to get started.
“We are pleased to be able to offer another accommodation option, with easy access to one of the main thoroughfares of the town.”
The apartments will be ideal for first-time buyers, or buy-to-let investments.
The scheme is expected to take two years to complete, finishing in early 2022.
