SO Resi, the shared ownership brand of Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, welcomed local South Northamptonshire MP Andrea Leadsom to its MY Resi Upton Square development in Upton, just outside of Northampton, last week (Friday 4th June). The visit was an opportunity for Mrs Leadsom to view the new affordable homes that SO Resi will deliver for local buyers in her constituency.
During the visit, Andrea Leadsom MP met with senior representatives from SO Resi to see the progress of the site, where the first phase of new homes are nearing completion. Mrs Leadsom found out more about shared ownership and its positive impact in helping local buyers onto the property ladder, before concluding the visit with a hard-hat tour of the development and construction site.
Andrea Leadsom MP comments: “It was a pleasure to visit MY Resi Upton Square this week, and to learn more about the affordable housing options available for local buyers in Northampton. It is crucial that the government and housing industry work in tandem to deliver a wide range of affordable new homes to support young people in getting onto the property ladder.”
My Resi Upton Square will provide 54 affordable new homes available through shared ownership to the local market, ranging from one and two-bedroom apartments to three and four-bedroom houses, helping to meet the growing demand for new homes in Northampton. In addition, the development will deliver 49 private homes, with Help to Buy available on many of the properties.
Kush Rawal, Director of Residential Investment at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, comments: “It was a pleasure to welcome Andrea Leadsom MP to MY Resi Upton Square today, where she was able to see first-hand how the development will deliver much needed new affordable housing to Northampton in a desirable, central location. We are committed to delivering high quality new homes at all levels of the market, and are pleased that the development is already benefitting those in the Northampton area seeking a home at a genuinely accessible cost.”
MY Resi Upton Square is part of the wider Upton Square scheme delivered by Vistry Partnerships and SO Resi.
Keith Moorcroft, Construction Director at Vistry Partnerships, commented: “By working in partnership with Metropolitan Thames Valley, we have been able to deliver much-needed affordable housing which will help local people onto the property ladder. It was a pleasure to be a part of Mrs Leadsom’s tour of the site, and we can’t wait to welcome all the new residents who move into Upton Square.”
