A housebuilder providing new homes in Shortstown is celebrating the sixth anniversary of construction work starting.
Bellway has been building new homes on the former Cardington Airfield site since 2014, having completed work on 304 properties to date.
The new homes are part of a wider new neighbourhood which has already seen a new school and village centre provided. Bellway has invested more than £3 million in education as part of the planning agreement for the development, as well as funding the construction of a new cadet facility, new bus services, sports facilities and a doctors’ surgery.
Bellway is now building 163 new homes at Eastcotts Green in Shortstown as part of the current phase of development.
Luke Southgate, Sales Director for Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “Reaching our six-year milestone highlights our commitment to building much-needed new homes in this part of Bedfordshire.
“As part of the ongoing development, we are also helping to improve the local area through our planning contributions, including significant investment in educational facilities for the next generation.
“The development has also brought further benefits with the construction of a new cadet facility, public art, new bus services and a doctors’ surgery.
“The last six years in Shortstown have been very successful and we are looking forward to continuing construction at Eastcotts Green to provide more people with new homes.”
Eastcotts Green is a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom new homes, within a short walk of Shortstown Primary School and the purpose-built village centre which features a supermarket, pharmacy and food outlet.
Three, four and five-bedroom houses are currently available to reserve, with prices starting from £305,000.
