Alan Young, from leading roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has blasted his original target to raise over £2,000 by taking up the Etape Caledonia cycling challenge. Alan cycled 85 miles around the hills of Pitlochry, for Beatson Cancer Charity. Beatson is a small cancer charity based in Glasgow that provide support to families and patients, and one close to Alan’s heart, as they supported his own family when they lost his father to cancer, 23 years ago. Planning Approval For Leicester Student Accommodation Scheme

Leicester City Council has issued planning approval for a new student accommodation scheme on one of the city’s main gateways. Designed by local architectural studio, InkDrawn, the approved scheme will see the demolition of the former Leicester antiques warehouse on Welford Road, nearby the junction with Victoria Park Road, and the creation of 43 new studio apartments. Contractor Henry Brothers kickstarted a £250,000 appeal to create a café and shop at Alfreton Park Community Special School by organising a fund-raising cricket match. The game took place at Alfreton Cricket Club in Derbyshire and involved a challenge between a Henry Brothers team and the club.
