MAC Construction Consultants oversee project at South Wigston High School
An ambitious roofing replacement scheme has reached practical completion at South Wigston High School in Leicestershire.
The scheme, which saw MAC Construction Consultants work alongside Langley Roofing Systems to complete a roof condition survey, went ahead after a report revealed that the schools’ roofs were in urgent need of attention.
A successful CIF bid from MAC saw the school receive funding. MAC then managed the procurement process, tendering works and appointing Central Roofing & Building Services to overlay 13 of the roofs with Langley’s TA-25 Flat Roofing System.
In addition to the roofing replacements, lead outlets, flashings and chutes were upgraded and replaced with Code 5 lead. Parapets were overclad in ply, and integral gutters were upgraded and insulated.
Alongside managing and administering the contract, MAC provided Health and Safety and Principal Designer services throughout the project.
Aaron Webb, Senior Surveyor at MAC Construction Consultants, commented: “Acting as the school’s chosen Consultant, MAC oversaw all on site activities for the South Wigston High School roofing replacement scheme, which was delivered on time and within budget.
“As with any large-scale school project, we had to navigate a number of logistical difficulties, ensuring minimal disruption whilst pupils and staff remained on site. Any issues encountered were effectively handled by on site management with support from Langley.
“We are incredibly pleased with the attention to detail and workmanship on this scheme, which has subsequently left the school with high performing roofs for many years to come.”
