Footballing youngsters in Leicester will be kicking off the month with brand new equipment and kit thanks to the support of a leading regional builder.
Football & fitness Academy U9 Lions, a self-funded grass roots football club for children from all backgrounds, is the latest recipient of a cash boost from Persimmon Homes North Midlands.
They were awarded the cash as part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions initiative. The scheme is a national programme where clubs, groups and good causes can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
The club, which has 120 members, applied for the funding to purchase new kit and equipment for the new year.
Lee Dundee, from the club, said: “We encourage players from all backgrounds to join us. To feel like they are part of a professional set-up, we wanted the team to be in new kit and have good training equipment. I feel it will assist in continuing to further the team’s spirit.
“Persimmon Homes’ donation is a welcome boost and we thank them for their contribution.”
Nadine O’Dowd, sales director for Persimmon Homes North Midlands, added: “The football club do tremendous work for the community in Leicester.
“It’s important for us to support the communities where we build and Community Champions is a great way to do just that.
“We know a gesture, such as providing new kit and equipment can be encouraging for a team and we look forward to seeing their progression in 2019.”
