Housebuilder donates 100 Easter eggs to Boston and Lincoln Foodbanks

Posted on April 6, 2021 Comments Off on Housebuilder donates 100 Easter eggs to Boston and Lincoln Foodbanks

Children from families in Boston and Lincoln who are being supported by their local foodbank are being given Easter eggs thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder.

Lincolnshire-based company Chestnut Homes has given 100 Easter eggs to Boston and Lincoln Foodbanks, to be added to their nutritionally balanced food parcels.

The two foodbanks are part of nationwide network supported by the Trussell Trust, a charity that works to end hunger and poverty in the UK. They provide three-day emergency food parcels to those in need, as well as providing users with toiletries and other additional items, such as pet food.

Boston Foodbank is based at Blenkin Memorial Hall in Wormgate, while Lincoln Foodbank has four distribution centres across the city.

Jayne Maddy, the National Lottery Heritage Fund Administrator at Boston Foodbank, said: “It has been wonderful to receive this donation and it really helps us to provide something extra for our clients this Easter that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do.

“Our clients will receive an Easter egg as an additional extra within their food parcel and I am sure many of the clients and their children will appreciate this as a very nice surprise.”

Cat Middleton, project worker at Lincoln Foodbank, said: “This past year we have received so many donations from local people and businesses within Lincoln, and everyone’s generosity has been so positively overwhelming.

“This donation from Chestnut Homes is really just the ‘chocolate on the top’ and we greatly appreciate such a kind contribution.”

Chestnut Homes has been building high quality new homes in Lincolnshire for over 30 years, and currently has developments in both Boston and Lincoln, as well as Dunholme, Coningsby, Alford and Market Rasen.

Helene Key, Sales Manager at Chestnut Homes, said: “At Chestnut Homes we have a firm belief in supporting the areas we build in and strengthening our relationship with local communities.

“Both Boston and Lincoln Foodbanks play a vital role in helping the most vulnerable people in Lincolnshire and we hope to be able to continue supporting the work that they do.”
