Housebuilder acquires Keresley land for new development

Posted on February 3, 2021 Comments Off on Housebuilder acquires Keresley land for new development

A housing developer has acquired a new parcel of land in Keresley, paving the way for a new development of 40 homes, pending detailed planning permission.

Bellway South Midlands has purchased a 3.8-acre site just off Watery Lane, known as Rookery Farm, which borders the President Kennedy School and Community College campus, and Keresley Jubilee Wood.

Outline planning permission has been approved by Coventry City Council for the construction of up to 40 dwellings at the site, with Bellway now preparing to submit a reserved matters application in the coming weeks.

This proposed development, which will be called Jubilee Green will comprise a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses.

A quarter of the properties being planned at the new development will be provided as affordable homes for local people through rent or shared ownership, while the remaining 30 will be sold privately.

In agreement with Coventry City Council, Bellway will make payments towards the improvement of the local area, including £64,960 towards healthcare and £203,320 towards local education.

Elaine Brown, Head of Sales for Bellway South Midlands, said: “If our detailed plans, which include an entrance feature wall and central green space, are approved by Coventry City Council, we will be able to move forward with work on delivering more much-needed new homes to Coventry.

“The range of home sizes and styles we propose to build at Jubilee Green means that prospective buyers from varying stages of the property ladder will be able to find a suitable home here.

“We are looking forward to working alongside the local authority to ensure that the needs of local people are met, whilst converting what is currently an undeveloped, overgrown piece of land, into a high-quality housing development with a thriving new community.”

If all plans are approved by Coventry City Council, Bellway aims to begin construction work on the site in 2022.
