A Cambridge development has recently been put on show in Hong Kong to attract overseas buyers to the brand new community at Darwin Green.
Leading developer Barratt Homes commissioned an exhibition in the city, to showcase the new phase, The Courtyard, being built at Darwin Green.
Recent research has revealed that the UK property market is extremely favoured by Chinese, and in particular Hong Kong, property seekers.1
In fact, since July 2020, Chinese house hunters have made 213% more enquiries about the UK property market. It is believed that a large portion of Chinese buyers are purchasing for their children to use while studying in the UK.2 With Cambridge’s famous education standards, including the University of Cambridge ranking as the third best university in the world in 2020, it is clear to see why the city is becoming a hotspot for Chinese buyers.3
The historic city of Cambridge is well-known for its famous university, which each year attracts students from all over the world.
The event, which highlighted the developers’ more than £36.5m investment into Cambridge and the features of the development, included a seminar showcasing the education in and around Cambridge.
Will Phair, Head of Sales at Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “Cambridge is a city that is known all over the world for its university and history, and as a housebuilder contributing a new community close to the city centre, this is something we’re excited to be a part of.
“We are proud to have many different cultures already living at Darwin Green, and this diverse community is something that we wish to continue supporting and seeing grow.”
The Huntingdon Road development is only 1.6 miles away from Cambridge city centre, where there is plenty to keep families busy with shops, restaurants, bars and cafes nearby.
The development has already contributed towards, education, highways, infrastructure and public transport and, towards community and sports facilities.
Residents will also benefit from a wide array of fantastic amenities which will include its very own central park which will feature 15 acres of open space, and high quality sport pitches.
Barratt Homes currently has a range of one, two and three bedroom apartments available at Darwin Green starting from £309,995.
The current Help to Buy scheme is available until 31st March 2021 and both existing homeowners and first time buyers can benefit. As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic the Government recently announced a small, two month extension to the building deadline, which means eligible properties can now be build complete by February 2021 instead of December 2020. From 1st April 2021 there will be a new Help to Buy scheme, with regional price caps and for first time buyers only.
