Stories were brought to life in front of the eyes of pupils from Priors Hall ALC thanks to a storytelling event at Barratt Homes’ development Lake View Corby.
School children were invited to the nearby development for a day of magical storytelling, which was hosted in one of the Barratt Homes show homes, to mark National Storytelling Week.
The fivestar housebuilder invited professional storyteller Richard York, a member of the Society for Storytelling, to spend the day at the Barratt Homes development, telling stories to the pupils and engaging them in the literature.
Chris Woolhouse, Headteacher at Priors Hall ALC, said: “We are very grateful to have been able to take our pupils to the Barratt Homes show home for a full day of storytelling.
“Richard’s stories were captivating and enjoyable for both the pupils and adults alike.”
The awareness week ran from 1st to the 8th of February and aimed to unite both children and adults in the customary pastime of storytelling.
The children learned how oral storytelling has allowed stories to survive and evolve over thousands of years, and across continents.
Alison Raine, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “It was a pleasure to have pupils from Priors Hall ALC visit our Lake View development and Richard’s stories really enchanted the children which was great to see.
“Events such as these give Barratt Homes the opportunity to make a difference in the communities in which they build and encourage the awareness week that promotes skills such as reading, writing, listening and creativity.”
Lake View at Priors Hall Park currently has a selection of four and five bedroom homes available to reserve with prices starting from £328,995.
