Health Visitor Wins Solar PV System For Family Home Thanks to NHS Donation

Posted on August 6, 2020 Comments Off on Health Visitor Wins Solar PV System For Family Home Thanks to NHS Donation

Julian and Jennie Churchill of Tollerton are the lucky winners of a fully fitted solar PV system, donated by Nottinghamshire renewable energy company Geo Green Power, which will be fitted to their family home this summer.

In May, Geo Green Power offered UK homeowners the chance to win a free solar PV system in return for donations to NHS Charities Together. Jennie, who was starting to research solar energy, came across the competition on Geo Green Power’s website after they were recommended by a family friend.

Jennie, who works for the NHS as a Health Visitor, said: “We moved into our home with our two boys three years ago, and investing in solar panels has always been something that we wanted to do. We’re delighted to have won, as it’s allowed us to have them fitted much sooner.

“Moving to a greener way of life is important to us. We’re also saving up for an electric car and have used some of this money to upgrade the 1.5kW system we won so we can generate more renewable energy for our home. And when we do get an electric vehicle, we can use green energy to charge it!”

Geo Green Power launched their fundraiser on JustGiving in order to say thank you to our amazing NHS teams who are continuing to work so hard during the Covid-19 pandemic. Homeowners who donated and entered the draw before 16 July had a chance to win and Julian’s winning ticket was drawn on 20th July. A total of £1,255 has been raised to date with the page still open for anyone who would like to make further donations. justgiving.com/fundraising/geogreenpower-fundraising.

Director, James Cunningham, said: “The last few months have been difficult to say the least. But we all know that things could have been much worse, if it wasn’t for our amazing NHS and that’s why we decided to give back and raise money to say thank you.

“As we look to the future, we’re hoping that the UK really will make a green recovery, and we wish the Churchill family all the best as they take their first step on their sustainable journey.”

Once installed the Churchill’s solar PV system will be providing free, clean electricity and reducing the family’s carbon footprint by 1.2 tonnes of CO2 every year and saving money on their electricity bills.

The 1.5kW system and install are being donated by Geo Green Power completely free of charge, so all money raised will go directly to NHS Charities Together.
