A Leicester charity that offers a range of support services across the region is set to have its funding boosted by a regional housebuilder.
The Royal Voluntary Service is the latest recipient of Community Champions funding from Persimmon Homes North Midlands.
The national match-funding initiative seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for people across the region.
Supporting you at Home is a service offered by the Royal Voluntary Service and is designed to help link people back into their community for mutual support, so they can stay independent for longer.
Wendy Campbell, from the charity, said: “The £1,000 donation means a great deal to us and will help us to continue our work.
“Our Supporting you at Home service is designed to help the most vulnerable people in our communities and enable them to achieve a more active and independent lifestyle within their homes and communities.
“This may involve helping people get to the supermarket or attending social groups or even just simply having a friendly face to talk to.
“Thank you, Persimmon Homes North Midlands, for supporting our service.”
Nadine O’Dowd, sales director for Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We are delighted to show our support for Royal Voluntary Service.
“It’s extremely comforting to know that the money donated to the group will help provide a vital service to the most vulnerable people in our community.
“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again, hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
