Young footballers in Chellaston have netted a £1,000 cash donation from a leading regional housebuilder.
AFC Chellaston Cougars U12s scooped the funding from Persimmon Homes North Midlands. The donation comes courtesy of the housebuilder’s monthly Community Champions scheme, where a £1,000 donation is gifted to two community groups each month.
The club, who are based at Chellaston Park, aim to improve the lives of younger members of the community through the power of sport. The match funding donation from Persimmon Homes will help fund new football jackets for the team.
Kevin Purser, from AFC Chellaston Cougars U12s, said: ““Hearing that the team had been selected to receive £1,000 was amazing news.
“On behalf of our players and parents, we can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough for the support. The money will make a huge difference to us making it possible to buy new football jackets for our players.
“The football club is so important for engaging young people in sporting activities and is a great opportunity for youngsters to develop new skills and socialise.”
Nadine O’Dowd, sales director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We strongly believe in supporting the communities where we build, and are delighted to be able to support grassroot sports through our Community Champions scheme.
“It is clear the football club provides great sporting opportunities for local youngsters.
“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again, and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
