Hope Foodbank in Beeston has received a £1,000 donation from Nottinghamshire homebuilder Barratt Homes to support those in need during the Christmas period.
Based at Hope House on Boundary Road, the foodbank distributes food and essentials across the county. The funding, which comes as part of the developer’s Community Fund initiative, will help to the Christian charity to continue its work with local churches and community groups to serve those in need.
Whilst the foodbank has received lots of generous donations throughout the pandemic, the charity will also use this donation to support its provision of employment support and debt advice – both being major issues in 2020 and contributors to the need for foodbank use.
Nigel Adams, Director of Hope Foodbank, said: “We were thrilled that Barratt Homes got in touch with us to say that they would like to make an extremely kind and generous donation towards our work.
“The funding will allow us to continue this provision for those who need it and will allow this offering to grow and develop as required to help more people.
“It is wonderful to know that Barratt Homes, through its Community Fund scheme, is concerned for and supportive of local communities’ initiatives.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Barratt Homes for their wish to support our work as we endeavour to provide help and empowerment to all who need it.”
Hope House in Beeston has become a one-stop community support centre, working in partnership with many local agencies, to provide a place of trust and transformation for local people.
Hope also supports many neighbourhood foodbanks across the city, helping people out of crisis and directing people to life-changing support.
Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “We’re thrilled to support Hope Foodbank at a time where togetherness and community spirit is most significant.
“The representatives of the foodbank do an outstanding job in providing emergency supplies to those in need, and we hope our donation will support their admirable work during a busy Christmas period.”
