Barratt Homes Northampton is continuing its sponsorship of Corby Town Table Tennis Club for another year.
Corby Town Table Tennis Club was established in 1948 and is a club that prides itself on both competitive success and community spirit. The club is for players of all ages, with the youngest player being aged 7 and the oldest player being aged 82.
The sponsorship, which is now in its fifth year, helps the team improve their equipment and purchase new tables allowing more players to train at once.
Chris Haynes, Club Chairman, said: “Barratt Homes’ continual support is absolutely fantastic for the club. It really does make a massive difference.
“With the sponsorship, we have been able to improve the quality of our equipment. We also have been able to purchase club kits, which not only do our members love, but other clubs have been influenced by and has ultimately improved the professionalism of the league.
“This year more than ever the sponsorship has been vitally important to the club. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have been limited in our ability to train. With less members being able to train at once, the donation has allowed us to continue to cover the costs of the facilities.
“During lockdown, I was playing table tennis on the kitchen table with cookery books in place of the net. This was sufficient for a while, but I’m really thrilled to be back at training again.”
Andrew Swindell, Regional Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We are delighted to have been able to continue our support of Corby Town Table Tennis Club.
“As a leading developer it is very important for us at Barratt Homes to engage with the local community as best we can so that they can thrive.
“The club is a credit to Corby and we are very proud to sponsor them for another year and we look forward to hearing about their future successes once the leagues are able to restart.”
Corby Town Table Tennis Club was leading both the first and second divisions of their local league when the league was void due to COVID-19. They are looking forward to playing competitively again as soon as it is safe to do so.
Barratt Homes Northampton is currently building at Lyveden Fields and Lake View at Priors Hall Park in Corby.
