ASHBOURNE RESIDENTS PUT THEIR HEART AND SOLE INTO FESTIVE WELL-BEING WALK

Posted on January 2, 2020 Comments Off on ASHBOURNE RESIDENTS PUT THEIR HEART AND SOLE INTO FESTIVE WELL-BEING WALK

Helping its Ramblers’ Gate residents increase their well-being ahead of Christmas, David Wilson Homes recently organised a festive walk in the Ashbourne countryside.

Leading the stroll from the Old Derby Road development were Helen Milton and Ross Jillings, representatives from Derbyshire Dales District Council Walking for Health, part of England’s largest network of health walk schemes which helps thousands of people to lead a more active lifestyle.

Ahead of the Christmas period, David Wilson Homes was looking for a way to involve its residents in a festive get-together that supported their physical and mental welfare and teamed up with Walking for Health for a special event.

Helen Milton, DDDC Walking for Health Coordinator, said: “It was lovely to see such a lot of people of all different ages out in the fresh air, many of them meeting for the first time. Walking is such a good way of combining activity and wellbeing – it’s so inclusive.”

In association with the Derbyshire Dales District Council, Walking for Health is a programme of guided walks across easy terrains set to benefit local people of all ages and abilities.

There are four weekly walks in Ashbourne and anyone looking to take part can visit www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/walkingforhealth.

As a way to socialise and meet their neighbours before Christmas, the homeowners at Ramblers’ Gate were invited to enjoy mince pies and don a Santa hat during a morning of festivities.

Those participating walked approximately two miles across Ashbourne’s fields and woodland tracks, making the most of the fresh air.

John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We’re very happy to have worked with Walking for Health to put on this guided walk for our residents at Ramblers’ Gate.

“With the Christmas period fast approaching, we wanted to bring our residents together for a festive celebration that would not only allow them to meet their neighbours, but also benefit their well-being.

“We’d like to thank Helen and Ross for leading the walk. It was excellent to see such a positive turnout from our new homebuyers.”

Those looking to join the close-knit community at Ramblers’ Gate can do so by visiting the onsite marketing suite, open Monday 12.30pm to 5:30pm and Thursday to Sunday 10am to 5:30pm.
